Yoga 4 A Cause!
Celebrate National Yoga Month with some deep breathing and a good cause.
Allison Grippe has a passion for yoga and she wanted to find a way to honor the activity that has brought her happiness for the past four years. Yoga 4 A Cause was created in collaboration with local artist Hannah Stelter to raise money for the Give Back Yoga Foundation, which is a nonprofit organization that works to bring the therapeutic benefits of yoga to people with limited access to the practice. All proceeds for this storefront will go to the Give Back Yoga Foundation and artist Hannah Stelter.
"For me, yoga has always been more than a physical practice. It has never been about being the strongest or most flexible; it has always been about meeting new faces and creating safe spaces for us humans to connect."
The Give Back Yoga Foundation was created in 2007 by yoga teacher trainer Beryl Bender Birch and student Robert Schware. This nonprofit organization offers a variety of scholarships, courses, and programs. Here are some of our favorites:
Give Back Yoga University
This virtual campus provides inspiring interviews, lectures, classes, and workshops to its students. It also offers "Well Being After COVID", which is a program that gives yoga therapy and classes to yoga professionals, healthcare practitioners, and people experiencing the long-term effects of the COVID-19 virus.
Mat Grants Program
This program gives free yoga mats and supplies to yoga teachers and projects that need them. They require that these projects center on sustainable yoga programs that last longer than a year, invite and include new students from a variety of groups in their community, and teach students how to integrate practical yoga into their everyday lives.
Teacher Training Scholarships
Give Back Yoga aims to promote intersectionality and diversity within mainstream yoga culture with the
Yoga Teacher Training scholarship. This scholarship offers accelerated yoga teacher training to
underrepresented minorities in financial hardship.
A big thank you to Allison Grippe, Hannah Stelter, and the Give Back Yoga foundation for making this
amazing storefront come to life!
