Milton Glaser created the famous I ❤ NY design in 1972. "I Love New York" is the official slogan for the state. Initially drawn in the back of a taxi with crayons, this design soon became a huge symbol for New York City. The design on a plain white t-shirt sold all over the city, which spread it like wildfire. The original sketch of the design is displayed at the Museum of Modern Art.

The Vote For Pedro shirt is from the 2004 independent film Napoleon Dynamite. In the movie, Napoleon helps his friend Pedro Sanchez run for class president by making t-shirts and posters that say "Vote For Pedro".

Pedro ends up winning the vote after Napoleon performs a dance routine for the school while wearing his Vote for Pedro campaign tee.

The original shirt was created as marketing for the English synth-pop band Frankie Goes to Hollywood, and "Relax" is the name of one of their singles. The shirt is featured in "The One With the Tiny T-shirt", an episode of Friends. Ross insists on taking one of his old shirts back from his ex, Rachel. He eventually leaves her apartment wearing the comically tiny t-shirt.

Is Stranger Things too new to be iconic?

In the latest season of Stranger Things, the gang is in a Dungeons and Dragons group called the Hellfire Club. After one of the members, Eddie is accused of murdering a fellow classmate, the town starts to believe that the Hellfire Club is a cult. Eddie has to run away for his safety, wearing his Hellfire Club shirt the whole time.

An iconic shirt that speaks for itself. Britney Spears wore her iconic baby blue "Dump Him" tee with a pair of sweatpants, a fur-trimmed jacket, and pigtails, after breaking up with her then-boyfriend Justin Timberlake in 2002. Knock-offs of the shirt have circulated for the past two decades. "Dump Him" is a statement that stands the test of time.

Don't Mess With Texas was a campaign by the Texas Department of Transportation to reduce littering in the state. The slogan became a hit among Texans, who saw it as a declaration of Texas pride. It is a very popular design in Texas souvenir shops and has become an icon for Texans.

The tuxedo tee is famous for being an oxymoron. It has all the class of a tuxedo but the comfort of your favorite t-shirt. Typically worn at frat parties, bachelor parties, or formal events that you don't care that much about.

Classy? Debatable. Comfy? You know it.
