Happy July! It's time for you to "meat" our cheesiest storefront yet.

Milk Made is a catering company that showcases local artisan products to make delicious cheese platters, charcuterie and more! They even have bessie, their cheese-on-wheels trailer that people can book for events!

I asked Megan Lewis, owner/cheesemonger at milk made some questions so you could get to know her and her brand.

What inspired the start of Milk Made?

I went to school to be a food stylist and loved making things look the best they could. I had multiple jobs prior and always loved that aspect. I ALSO LOVE CHEESE. When I had the opportunity to make cheese platters professionally, it was like my love of food styling and cheese fell in love and had a business baby, and that would be Milk Made. I was also inspired by the "Milk Maids" that would make the cheese and dairy products back in the day. I felt empowered by strong women making delicious products.

Where would you like Milk Made to go in the future?

Milk Made has truly evolved organically throughout our five years. Our goal has always been to get the freshest and most delicious dairy products to the masses while offering education and the stories of these amazing makers. We hope to eventually have a larger prep space or classroom, but we truly just love the ride!

Favorite cheese? the future?

I LOVE GOAT CHEESE, in any form, any way. It is such a hard question because I have been blessed to try so many amazing cheeses, but my shortlist is Bucherone, Midnight Moon, Smokey Blue, and of course, aged cheddar!

What has been your biggest win with Milk Made?

Proving that having an incubator style business can work! When we started five years ago, our business model was unheard of in my industry. It's been fun to see other Cheesemongers and business owners move into a mobile outfit and have it be successful. I never wanted to be tied to a brick-and-mortar from 9-5, and I am proving with some creativity it can work!

Favorite part of cheese-slinging?

I always underestimate how much cheese makes people happy! I love seeing people's eyes light up when they see cheeses out in the wild. We get to tell a maker's story and make people happy... it's a win-win!

If a kid walked up to you asking for your advice and you only had a few minutes to give ‘em your best tip, what would it be?

Love your brand and what you created. Stay true to yourself, because you radiate your passion and your brand. Everyday my cheese people bring me joy!
