Kyle was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease (CKD) in 2020 after receiving results from lab tests. Over the past few years, his kidney function has gradually declined. In January, we traveled to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN for extensive testing to determine if he would be a suitable candidate for a kidney transplant. By February, he was approved and added to the transplant waiting list.

Currently, Kyle is still able to work full time, but once he undergoes the transplant procedure, he will need to remain in Rochester, MN for three to four weeks to ensure his body accepts the new kidney. During this period, he won’t be able to work. Upon returning home, he will require a recovery period of approximately six to eight weeks. Following the transplant, he will need to take specific medications for the rest of his life to support the new kidney.
